We've been waiting for this one, the boys over at ocworkbench put one of these boards through their paces. If you look at the results, the ABIT KR7A is magnificent! Other boards that are based on the same chipset (VIA KT266A) are not able to acquire as good benchmark results. Some might argue, synthetic benchmarks are not a good representation and are subjected to test environments and errors but ya gotta start somewhere. Check out the lengthy article here (http://www.ocworkbench.com/hardware/abit/kr7araid/kr7araidgallery1.htm)

I don't know why but that felt as though the guy writing the review had a very strong bias in favour of Abit.

I just saw over at [H]ardOCP that they've just posted their KR7A-RAID review. They are impressed with the performance results of the board. It appears the Sandra memory scores outperform the MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU.
With the recent onslaught of KT266A motherboards, there has been one board in particular that has been conspicuously missing from the recently released KT266A board lineup...the ABIT KR7A motherboard. Whether this was by design or simply ABIT cooking their board "extra" in an attempt to squeeze everything it can out of this chipset, we'll know today.
ABIT has long been a leader in the performance arena, some even think that they put their priority on performance above all else... while that may or may not be true, when all is said an done, we will know exactly what ABIT had cooking for so long.

I just find that Abit is just always late :D and the other thing is that you either hate or love Abit. The main reason you owned one is for it's high potential to OC, but I find nowadays, there are many boards that will do close or better than an Abit board and have more "options".

Several companies are now claiming to have the Abit KR7A in stock. According to the PriceGrabber (http://www.pricegrabber.com) site they can be found for as low as $159. This is one of the more anticipated boards in recent months, lets just hope no major issues arise out of this board.
Be sure to check out the KR7A FAQ (http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kg7kr7/kg7kr7faq.htm) at ViaHardware.

I am seriously looking at building a new system starting with the abit KR7A raid and water cooling with Innovatek kit or Koolance case. Some reviewers (ie, tomshardware.com), seem to totally ignore the existance of this board. I am a month or two away from ordering. Anything wrong with the kr7a? Other boards I should consider?
