s3 graphics all over again

ok stop the press, well Kinda. Via is going to release a new video chip that will rival/beat anything out there. To bad it's scheduled for Q1 2003. here (http://www.theinquirer.net/24110101.htm) is the article. I find it funny if they do that though, S3 all over again.

without having read the article, I just bet the chip will targeted at Asia. I really don't Via would attempt to battle it out with NVidia and ATI - perhpas Kyro. The CPU they produce (formerly Cyrix) is aimed squarely at the Asian market. If that's Via's intent, it's a smart move.

OK, I read the article. It still sounds to me though, that Via really hopes to find a niche market. Perhaps I'm wrong. It would be nice to see more comptetition in the video card industry. Wouldn't it be nice to see an Radeon 8500 going for $150!
