OK, it was time to upgrade. MyXP copy came in this odd plastic box. One Half hour later, it kinda oozed out the slit I had made. Killer packaging desigber clowns did this for sure.
And it's really low to make you find umpteen new drivers for yer peripherals.
By Dinnertime-no,I didn't cook, my scanner awoke and my Wacom was back. But my NEC Superscript 870 seems headed for the junk heap.
The print gear RIP floppy will not let you use it but three times. Guess I am out of luck or will depend on the kindness of other's (printers)...

Are you making pros again? For a minute there, thought I was back in my humanities class. Looks like you need a new printer. May I suggest the Canon S300, which produces brilliant and vibrant, yet for the budget conscious?

Hi Ems, according to the HCL list from MS, your printer is compatible with XP and the drivers are on the XP cd. A lot of times, the 2K drivers will work with XP just fine. You can always grab the driver here (http://support.nectech.com/common/drivers/printers.htm)

Dear Zam- Thanks so much for the input. I still hate my printer...but it's aware of that fact now...

Dear AMSTD- no prose here- that's the only way I can "swear".
Besides, the more frustrated I get the worser I type.
