Afghan zoo officials throw paper flowers at the grave of Marjan, the 25-year-old lion, after erecting a marker at the back of the Kabul Zoo where he is buried on Monday Jan. 28, 2002 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Marjan, who died two nights ago apparently of old age, became a symbol of Afghanistan after withstanding decades of war.
