WE'RE HEARING THAT Via has decided to formally launch its KT-333A chipset now at the big memory meeting it's holding on the 20th February, with the KT-333 becoming just a figment of our imagination. Although Via has shipped several thousand KT-333 chipsets out, and some mobo makers have gone and made products based on it, because it was never formally announced it can never be formally unannounced.
Some manufacturers said they saw little performance benefit in the existing rev of the chipset and that, apparently, has caused Via to re-think its strategy. The KT-333A, on the other hand, is expected to show significant performance increases, although the question of where the DDR 333 memory for these parts is, still remains.
