Steve Gibson has put out a lot of good stuff, but he will quickly lose his credibility if he continues in this vein. Fame does bring a certain amount of negativity from other quarters, but this guy seems to be begging for it this past yr.

lurch63, I've seen you all over these boards today. Making up for lost time, eh? Or has my head been up my butt and I just didn't notice ya? :}

Thomas Greene is always hammering away at Steve Gibson, nothing new in that, he has been doing it for years.

I heard them in an Internet radio talk show last year, and I found Thomas Greenes attitude to be smug, and a smart alec, by criticising in an arrogant way - Steve Gibson, was very calm and didn't get riled and ignored the childish manner that was Thomas Greene.

Steve Gibson may be a bit vain, however he has this incredible ability to beatifully describe, in a very simple, easy to understand that is a jou to read. Go read some of his article on his site - I wish I could write like that.

There are huge inaacuracies in Thomas Greenes article implies Steve Gibson has never heard of packet sniffers, yet last year Gibson wrote a number so articles about detecing intrusion by using packet sniffers.

Gibson I belive makes a contribution to computing - just look what he has done to highlight poor security in Windows a few years back, with his Shields up site he has made a huge difference to security concepts - what's Greene's contribution, apart from a chip on his shoulder and a small dick.

LOL, I'd never heard of Thomas Greene until I read that article. It is a factor to take into consideration.

I agree that Gibson has made significant and worthwile contributions to this area in the past.. I'd also agree that Thomas Greene does tend to have get quite vicious on him but he does do so with some good cause.. Gibson's past successes have earned him alot of trust among the internet community and he has made some quite disasterous blunders in recent times that if no one pulls him up on then alot of people will take it as gospel - to their detriment.

Yes Gibson has made some mistakes - I wouldn't call them disasterous - after all we are all human. I have also agreed his is vain - but if youy counter all fo that, against the positive good he had done.....

There are ways of pulling people up, and Thomas Greens is not only vicious but tiresomly childish and predicable.

Some of his reports on Gibson look like they have been lifeted for a [H] flamefest.

Sorry Karak - I disagree with you on this one. Thomas Green is a prat.

Hi Karak - I don't disagree with everything Thomas says and I don't think the sun shines out of Steve's arse - i just think there are ways of pulling people up and Thomas's are childish and vicious - I'm sorry there is no excuse for that ..... :)

<<Classic Schwarzenegger one liners: OK no more one liners, it was getting old. hmm now what .... >>

Lurch, I'm sure you'll be back when you think of another classic line. :rolleyes:

Case, go vist Steve at http://grc.com/default.htm. The guy has carved a niche for himself regarding security for computers. Quickly becoming a somewhat contentious element. :smirk:
