I got XP to format it's own partition and load up and run BUT how do I format the rest of the drive? It's not as easy as plopping in a boot disk and going from there. I've got a second partition on my drive that's doing nothing! It's not even formatted. XP is on a 500 MB partition and the rest of my 30 GIG drive is empty and unaccessable. NOW WHAT?
Thanks,
Flint

Go to my computer, right click on said partition, and format.

Flint: has the whole HD been partitioned in fdisk? if it has, than all you have to do is follow Rando's method. Let us know what happened. And pass the keg will you?

I partition and format with XP. After parting out, I just activate D:, activate and format C:, and then after I load XP on C: go back and format D: in "my computer"....:D

Right click on My Computer - Manage. Next click on storage - Disk Manage. You can do all sorts of wonderful things from there. Who's got the keg. Need

While waiting for a response, I rebooted to the XP CD and started a fresh install of XP on "D". I stopped it after it formatted the partition and before it loaded XP (it was kind of pissed off about that!!) but then restarted XP on the C drive, went to My Computer and formatted D again just to clean it up. Now all's well
I think.
Thanks Everyone,
Flint:rollin:

You'all have one on me, OK!!

The disk is formatted all NTFS now like I wanted it and all's well!
I was, by the way, able to delete a complete old NTFS partition with a 98se boot disk. I remember someone once told me it couldn't be done. It didn't recognize the NTFS partition, but deleted it allowed me to do a fresh install of XP Home.
Thanks for your Help and following up!
