For an industry that endured a drop of over 60% last year, this is welcome news indeed. The turning point may have come last fall, when prices of double-data-rate DRAM began to move upward. Synchronous DRAMs have since followed suit, and both are now selling above $5 in contract pricing, a dramatic change from the 90 cent price tags prevalent late last year.
