So what's new with the Radeon 8500 over of the old Radeon? As we mentioned in the FIC Radeon 8500 review the new 8500 (R200) has double the transistor count of the original Radeon (R100), from 30 million to 60 million. It's also produced on a smaller 0.15 micron die instead of the 0.18 found on the original Radeon.

The guys at PC Stats take a look at the 8500 (R200). See what else is new, and how this baby performs here (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1024)

Question: How do know if I'm buying the R100 or R200? The R200 has 128MB RAM?

So I was checking out the newegg catalog last night (yes, my daily routine), and came upon this picture of the new 128MB ATI 8500. Check out the RAM, it's the same ones GF4 use. TinyBGA super high speed RAM. Don't know what the specs are though. But maybe 3.5ns or something.
