I am a lucky sood at the moment runnig ME.
This has been just fine for a long time, but recently I have noticed that when ever my pc crashes (i didn't that often before), and I go for the Ctrl-Alt-Delete solution it seems that 99 out off 100 times that a "program" or "task" called "Newsupdate" is Not responding.
I wonder if any one knows what this "Newsupdate" does?, Where it comes from and if I can stopp it from runnig in the background?
thx:beatsme:

It's possibly Spyware. But not necessarily. I don't actually know what it is myself.
To check, it wouldn't hurt to download and run AdAware 5.71. It's a handy utility to have anyway, especially if you're into downloading MP3's.
You can get it here: AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.nu/)

Well well, there's a thing. Only bit of Creative hardware I have is my DVD ROM drive. I just pressed ctrl-alt-del and only thing running is my ISP.

More on the sound cards that anything else, flops. I've had to disable it on all my rigs, and me pops, as well.

Thanks for the info guys, I didn't know about this one. My card is about 1 1/2 years old but no update.exe file at all. Tnx again

That depends totally on whether you installed just the drivers, or the entire creative package.
When I got a nomad MP3 player, I had to install it all, and thereby got the newsupd.exe as a result. (Live Update, I do believe)
I then checked the others and it was there also. Pops uses the SB card, and software, so his ME system had it too .
When I feel the need for updates, I reenable it.
