Eweek (http://www.eweek.com/article/0,3658,s=701&a=27405,00.asp) has an article that describes how some linux vendors will band together to "take on redhat"
An executive at one of the companies, who declined to be identified, confirmed to eWEEK on Tuesday that the announcement will revolve around a single standardized Linux distribution, but he declined to elaborate ahead of Thursday's announcement.
what it boils down to is that a group of companies will distribute copies around "there local zone". They are still trying to hammer out the deal, but a few of the partners are Caldera, Conectiva, SuSE and Turbolinux. The official press release is going to be this Thursday.
