Anybody got any idea why W2k handles sis ide controllers so poorly that all devices run PIO mode??

i've had a hunt around to see if i can find some suitable chipset drivers, but none seem to be available, and M$ KB has no refernce to it :(

what kinda mother board is it? I found this (http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/download.cfm?ProductType=2280), look under Miscellanies they have sis drivers to enable DMA mode. let me know I can hunt around for a while. also check number 13 here (http://www.fileplanet.com/index.asp?section=1312)

yup mucks... installed and all.... 2k just seems to have issues with SIS ide controllers.

i spotted something on KB that says the controller may be running in dma mode even if it says pio, but i'm getting mouse jerkiness under any disk load so i't a pretty safe bet that poi means zackley that.

I got the AGP109M.EXE file from that site, and the ide components within fixed the problem.... cant tell exactly if she's running DMA (because i no longer have that option in the controller setup), but the jerkiness has dissapeared :)
