Over at [H]ardOCP the guys have a look at the new reference designs that AMD has released for the Hammer line of chips.

Remember that what you are seeing here is designed for OEM usage and not the high performance-seeking overclocker. So no copper or BAFs present. "BAFs" otherwise known as "Big Ass Fans" for you guys not in the loop.

It is an interesting design that is very similiar to the Alphas that so many of us use now. Its also worth noting that AMD is now making it a design stipulation to add an EM shield.

I'll let the guys over at [H] tell ya more (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MzAx)

Nice find Heretic, it looks like Thermaltake might be in the thick of things for OEMs.

About time we see an implemention of an Electromagnetic Shield. Its gonna be a standard as chip frequencies go way beyond 2GHz. Hell even at lower then 2GHz there is some concernsw with EMF inteference. I have enabled my Spread Spectrum Modulation in my BIOS.
