well they can try, but as the stated, it will be hard to stop. They are thinking of 2 methods of blocking. One is getting more info on your computer (your configuration). but what about people like me who change settings alot (mobo, videocards, harddrives). The other method is blocking the keys, but what about the people that have had there keys ripped off. I know even if they do that there is alway key-generators out there. It's hard for microsoft to figure that out anyways since stated that they don't know all the keys that are out there (where will they start on telling which key is good and which is bad?).

If caught it won't stop you from running XP, you just won't be able to update your XP using service packs, and as stable (:P) and secure XP is, it could mean alot. Interesting how this will go.

I often wonder why they just don't figure it like the big chain stores do with theft. They probably do figure a certain percentage of their pricing,to include the copies etc.Hell they are high enough for sure to compensate, they didn't make billions by having more loss than gain :dev: It really won't matter what steps they take, someone will find a way no matter what :D

Yep, you got that right Tuffie, sort of like "If you build it, they will come"

Why not just use the commercial edition of XP - there's no activation keys on that one, eh?

but there is a serial number, thats the thing, since you have 70 copies of xp all coming in with the same serial number being registered upon the os's conception, that could do it, but who knows. sinc. lurch
