I have been looking at a few, which should I go with? I see the Ipaq's, toshiba, palms, handspring, and a few others, but which will be around for a while and offer a good quality product. I would like something that has a color display. I plan on using this machine to store notes/ clients/games when I am bored. tell me what you think and what you are running/ kinda quality and luck from them.
p.s. has to be cat proof

I have two Handsprings. They may be kinda bulky compare to the Palms, but function and layout is easy and clean. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Comes in gray scale and color options. I have the gray scale version. Doesn't have the fancy SMM expansion slot, but it's the only one in the group w/ spring broad slot for component upgrade. Handspring runs on Palm OS, which means it can run more apps you can count. Old models use AAA batteries and they run out real fast. But the new versions use internal rechargeables so it lasts a lot longer. I'd go to your local BestBuy or Fry's and check out the selection first hand.

I had a handspring..
Key word had..
Acutally, I still have it somewhere, it just doesnt work any longer. I put in a fresh set of batteries and it drains them dead within hours. Not very useful like that. It used to run a month or so on one set of batteries, but for some reason will not last a day on a set now. Into the junk drawer it shall now live.

I have, until next week at least, an Ipaq 3660.
Some pros and cons.
Prons: real good screen, color, easly synced with other windows applications. nice collection of add ons i.e. Wlan, GPS, GPRS, GSM, memory, the list goes on and on...
Cons: BIG; does not fit into any pocket with out you looking like you are carrying a concealed weapon :rasta: , Screen on this model is unprotected i.e scratches easily (later models have a seethrough cover, get one), top of the range pricevise.
over all : If I had the money to buy 1 would. If you are going to buy consider the iPaq or the HP equivalent....
AS much as I dislike Copmpaq and HP I do have to admit that the do make som decent PDAs.

I'd go with SD2 on the ipaq. I have the 3630 (basically same as 3660 except with half the onboard memory), and i love it to death. App wise there is tons out there for them, and accessories / upgrades are easy to come by.
If you are going to buy new, check out the full range of manufacturers, as some good deals can be had. Whilst the iPAQ is by far the best of the PocketPC bunch, it also tends to command a premium price.
Second user is a good alternative. There are plenty of PocketPC's to be had on ebay for a moderate cost.
It appears Packard Hell have just released one and from what i hear it's not that expensive. I'll hunt around for a few reviews at the weekend.

yup indeed... there are quite a few newer models in the 37xx and 38xx range....
i'm personally waiting to see what the hp/comcrap merger sprouts...... a cross between an ipaq and a jordana could be sweet!

I don't own one myself, but my friends have always recommended Handspring. Plus, if you're thinking about Pocket PC 2002, most people don't even need it. A palm will do just fine. And Palms are cheaper.
