View Full Version : TnL from a TNT?

I have a Dell XPT500 at home which has a (now) fairly primitive TNT2 vid card in it. It has always worked very well for regular apps and games, but with the recent introduction on TnL it is found wanting. 2 questions -

1) is there any software workaround to enable TnL with a TNT2 card?

2) is it worth getting a GeForce2 (which I understand does enable TnL) for a 500mhz system?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I think with a newer video card a 500Mhz cpu would run almost all the new games. UT2k3 might be a little slow because it is also very cpu intensive, but you could certainly run it.

Unless you realy need TnL its not worth an upgrade in that system. Save your money for a new build.

The TNT2 (m64 pro) is a very fine "all-rounder" ... and stable. ;)

Umm Mr. Mucks is not known for his gaming expertise :joy:
The poster already has a TNT2, the m64 would be a step down in performance.
If you are looking for a budget card with T&L, go for a radeon 7200/7500. They usually outperform a geforce2MX, about equal with a geforce2 GTS. I am running all games fine on mine.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out the Radeon.

No you can't enable TnL on a TNT...it wasn't built with that feature. However, like everyone else said, you can pick up a cheap newer card with TnL :)
