well back when i first went to the awesome shields up site i was happy to see that i was all secure when i was probed, well now i got a port open, i'm just using the linksys firewall, which is important becuase i can secure everyone from here and i don't have to worry about working on a software firewall on each pc, well just wondered what ya all thought, how i can lock it back up :)

I understand why you don't want to bother with a software firewall lurch but, this is with the freebie ZA, no router.

I too got all stealth using the FREE Zone Alarm. I also have a Linksys BEFSR41 Router.

All stealth here. With or without ZA. I'm on a Netgear FR114P router though.

well zammy the big thing is then i am responsible for installing it on all 11 pcs in the house and right now i just don't have the time, the main thing that i worry about is putting za on pcs not my own in the house and having its prospective users complaining to me that they are restricted in some way, does za restrict you in anyways which are a pain?

None lurch, no restrictions if not desired, but the options are there, ZA freeware is very easy to setup.

oh, well origonally we had just one, and that was like 2 years ago, my parents bought a compaq 500mhz, old pc went upstairs, beezer got a laptop from work, saw how nice it was him having his own pc, then lil bro bought his own pc, in the mean time i was upgrading the fam pc all the time, then i gave up took my upgrades out and put them toward my own pc, built that got me here, after that it just sort of boomed, i got an old pc from a pc build job and gave it to my sisters, lil bro has his, parents have theirs, i have mine, the mp3 server i built, curretnlly the fastest pc in the house :P after reupgrading it, got my old dos box, also have a sun box, beezer's got his work laptop, a dell gx1, a mac g4, his amd system, me and beezer both have kvm switches, there are also about 3 more systems unused in the basement, and 3 monitors too, but whose counting :) , the funny part is that i've thrown out and sold a lot of stuff already, just can't seem to get rid of enough, but oh well :) sinc. lurch
