Look what Swiftech has done with their MC462 for all you traitors. They have come out with the MCX462 which is a new and improved hsf. We all saw what the helicoil pins did for the 370, so I'm sure the 462 will fair just as well. They have also improved the fan mounting system.
Take that Alpha, you copycat . This hsf is an improvement on the Swiftech design, not someone elses clone.
Someone I know is gonna be pissed **cough** IA **cough**

We knew it was coming. Looks like the success of the PAL8045 got to them, eh? :D I wonder how much this baby will cost.

True. But if you're in the business it's all about competition. If you make the good stuff, you had better expect it to be clone. Unfortunately, Swiftech's PR still hasn't learn Alpha introduced a product with virtually the same performance as their top dog for LESS. $72 w/ fan, $55 w/o? Man, they better do some research, 'cause only a chump (no disrespect to any current Swiftech owners) would buy something that costs more when he can find an alternative that performs better for less.
Don't think IA's gonna feel the effect of cognitive dissonance, 'cause he knows he paid less for something better.

Looks like they made their improvements and kept the price the same. I saw a bare MCX462 for $55 on their website. That's about what I paid for my bare MC462.
BTW, they upped the pin count to 371 from 261. WOW!!
I can't wait for the slaughter, uh, I mean review

Yeah, the 50% increase in surface area is the real kicker. Anyone have exact numbers on the surface area compared to the PAL8045?

Damn...its about time Swiftech comes out with their next gen cooler to compete with the Alpha! Yep...them heliocod pins we all called it...but the pin increase is a pleasant surprise.
What the heck are the holes next to the new fan mounts?? Speaking of the fan mounts, if they are going to do that, why not extend it to a 92mm?
This thing better improve temps by more then just 1-2C because if it does only that at $55, the Alpha is STILL the better buy.
And I'm sticking it out with my Alpha Brothers!! With CPU's getting cooler and cooler, 1-2C isn't anything anymore! Hey Stone...I got your back bro!
Plus I like the Black Sleekness of Mah Alpha...looks nice next to the Black Zalman NB
So I guess that means 0-60 has a MC462A for sale :D
BTW, here's more info on it:

I agree with you there. I really would have liked to see accomodations for a 92mm fan. That would have definately given it a boost over the PAL8045.

The MCX462 is supposed to be shipping the first week of November, so I guess we'll see a review shortly.

Well, the PAL8045 has shown me the light to Alpha products. But I will be getting the MCX462 by next week, so we'll see if I'm still an Alpha-faithful after the review. :)
It's a real shame that the price is so high on it, regardless of how well it will end up performing.
