I noticed when I bought my AS3 that the instructions (http://www.articsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm) on their website has changed from the original ASII instructions I previously used. They say to apply to the bottom of the heatsink to fill any voids, wipe, and then apply to the core. I normally only applied to the core, but I'll try this method on my new Alpha.

I guess it was about 6 months ago. And when I asked IA about it, he said he hadn't seen it either. I guess it depends on your definition of new :beatsme:

0-60: The only reason why they want you to apply it to your HS instead of core is so you'll run out of AS3 real fast, leading to another purchase. pity how low they can get when it comes to marketing and shit. As I said before, are you cooling the HS or are you cooling the Core?
Edit: Okay, just read the instruction. Fill in the gap huh? Well, isn't what the burn-in time's for? So the AS3 can fill up the gap by heat and vibration?

Ok, if they want you to fill in a VOID! LOL
Just fill in the void where the core is going to make contact with the HS. I think that will be enough because your cooling the core and from what I have seen that is the only part the makes contact with the heat sink and is important? correct.
