rack cases. Talk about circulation restriction. Damn, that's a lot of wires. BTW, if you're wondering, this is a pic of IC's new server. Now I know F1 talked about the I/O issue with server that uses IDE RAID, which can bottleneck fairly quickly when the access increases. So didn't IC use SCSI RAID? I mean dude's got the money.

IC's running from a local webhosting company's place thingy... But this is what I think IC's actually doing, the rack you see above contains the data, it gets transmitted to some faster server that can serve the numer of hits IC gets. 'Cus c'mon, don't tell me IC's running off of a dually system with IDE RAID.

Where's the rounded cables when you need them!!!

As much as I like racks, I could never do them because you limit your overclocking potential with the airflow restriction and heat buildup...unless of course you wanna pay $$$$ for the 4U babies...or I suppose you could H2O cool.

unless you go to the 4U cases you also are limited to the number and size of cards. Hence the reason why many server boards have intergrated vid and sound. They dont need to be the flashiest, hottest sounding just fast.

with some carefull thinking and layout you can get some decent oc in a rack case though. Got a buddy who does just that right now. His temps run in the mid 40's most of the time and it did take some mods to the case. Plus you have to plan a bit when racking em up.

round cables wouldnt work here. (ok they would but the pic is not showing to much trouble with the drive cables) All the mess is in teh power cables. Here ya need some of the cable looms sold at electronics shops.
