I assume your talking about a personal digital audio device (as they are called) Well the Rios (600 and 800 are the latest)have always been a good choice, but what you should do is get a magazine like T3 or Stuff. (Don't know what you have in the states) That way you'll get loads of reviews which will give you an un-biasedish view of a range of them.
You could try www.t3.co.uk if you want though.

Ive been lookin at Mp3 players a lot lately....
I keep struggling with media.
Mp3-CD players offer the best as far as media. Cheep as hell to go burn all my mp3's to CD and have them always available.
But I dont want something that will skip. When I go running/jogging, I think a solid state player would be best.
But then, most of them use their own propriatary/expensive media, or are non-expandable.
IS there a Solid State Mp3 player out there that takes CompactFlash cards?? These suckers are cheep (and can be replaced w/ a IBM microdrive = 1gb..mmmmmm..)..

I know that the Rio 600 has an optional jacket which lets you add Compact Flash cards to it. Apart from that your going to have to look around your self.
