Hi All,

I got my new sound card,it's the Philips PSC705 which is supposed to be a fairly good card. When I booted up after installing it,I get a popup saying that the DirectX has to be version 5 or higher,I have the 8.1.It also said something about or the driver, not sure what they mean driver for Q3D.My old card was the XWave by Labway, and the Q3D logo and device was there when I booted. It shows it loads by the clock with the black Q,but as soon as I hit the OK on the popup,it takes it off the Start Bar by the clock.I ran the DXDiag, and all passed except for the last one on sound.I may have a setting wrong or something, using 98SE for OS.

I also notice that I have to turn my volume way up,compared to the other card.I would guess that it may have 50% as much volume,so that doesn't seem right either.Any info much appreciated :D

Have you removed the old card from your device manager and installed all the new drivers?

That's the Seismic Edge, you do have the Latest Drivers (http://www.pcsound.philips.com/english.html) ... don't you?

Hi James,

I did remove the old driver from device mgr,I deleted all that was listed under sound.

Muck's,I will check the drivers out,but I think they are the latest,it's one of those deals it doesn't tell you the # just d/l,but none seem to be certified by MS. Thanks guys :D

Edit: Muck's I see they give the # at that site, where I went they didn't,so will check to see if they are the same,Thanks

Hi James,

I did go from Muck's link and d/l the newest one's,but I think they were the same as the link I used before.Maybe the new card doesn't use the Q3D,but I have it in MSConfig, and have always had it on the old card.I called Philips support to ask, suffice it to say the gal I talked to said, can I get back to you on that  I'll keep messing with the settings, but I just tried again on the volume output and it's not even close to my old card. Thanks for the reply :D
