View Full Version : 800MB discs?
Is there such thing as 800MB discs? I heard that they are implimenting this, but it was long ago so I'm not sure if they are "done" or if it was complete BS that I heard. I never heard anything about them myself.

Yes, there are 800mb discs but if your burner and software won't support them, then it's a no go. I was looking at these the other day when I was after some cdrs at CompUSA.
So if the burner was made after the 800MB ones came out, they should work then.

Not necessarily, would be my guess.
Not sure how you'd find out though.
First port of call would be the manaufacturer's website, armed with your model number.
I'm wondering whether a firmware upgrade would help?

I just did a google for "800 mb discs", and there seems to be a lot of info there concerning trying to burn these big ones, give it a go Dex.

Dex, give this a read:
http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_cd-r99.shtml
Note: The list is very old. Most current burners would support these discs (in fact, burners that support overburn all should).
Cool, I'm probably going to give it a whirl. Thanks
