*** I felt that i was hijacking Curious' thread so this is where i left off***

so i tried to reinstall 9.2, no dice, i get past the BIOS screen, i get past the "how do you want to install... where it was press F1 for other, and enter for normal"..

Using VGA16 mode
Uncompressing Linux...

I can boot into Mandrake normaly, with out any problems.

I tried Knoppix 3.2 It couldn't boot normaly, it gave me this error, over and over and over again, so fast that i missed the last 2 numbers becuase i couldn't make them out.

CDROM drive on its way out, possibly. Also could be bad or marginal RAM, I suppose.

an afterthought... it might be a simple matter of trying a different brand of disk to burn these ISOs to. Try it with the knoppix ISO.

One symptom I've noticed of some CDROM drives is that they start getting finicky reading some CDs before getting replaced.

Holy hell, i guess 6th time is a charm. Everything if "fine" right now, i'm scared to reboot though. Simple question though, why is it i can VNC my windows machine, but i can't VNC my linux box? Does it matter that one is Tight VNC, and the other is Real VNC??
