Hi

Can someone help me with my first installation of Slackware 9.1?

I have run the installation and logged in as root.

I come to set up X and here I hit problems.

When I run xf86config nothing happens I just get the next prompt line as if I had just hit return and not typed anything.

This also happens when I type startx.

Can anyone throw some light on this please?

Many thanks

Daz...

Please decribe your setup (hardware, and any messages you got during the install that seemed abnormal).

We will need some more details to assist your issue. I have seen x86 config issues like this before in early Red Hat installs, mostly due to unsupported hardware. In my particular case, it was too cheap a video card, and although it was "supported", it was not "reccomended", and I saw why. It would run CLI just fine, but GUI was out of the question with the Vid card I was using.

:sorry:

Sorry I have sorted it. I was following Grogan's instructions on set up but here's probably my error: I only used a small disk - Having found a new 36GB disk spare in my server room and re installed on it the command is now working

Thanks for you replys
