I wouldn't say hate. Just that is probably the #1 unsafest browser in the world! :)

They don't hate it. It's just that it's three versions ago and they want people to move on already. Just like Windows XP, they want people to move on already. They're both 10 years old after all.

The difference being that compatibility with XP isn't still causing problems for everyone else on the net. I still run into site that don't work properly in Firefox and they're always listed as being "best viewed with IE6". Translation: the site is coded with hacks and workarounds that work fine unless you're using a standards compliant browser, then the shitty code is a disaster.

I've got one cruncher running IE6 and it will not go online anymore, though I've not upgraded anything, nor accepted any updates. What is odd is that it still communicates with WCG just fine, so I just leave it. It's a clean xp install with no additional proggies added, and bare minimum processes running. I don't think it's infected with anything except MS.

It's their legacy. They build empires by locking people in to incompatible technologies, that aren't even compatible with their own upgrades.

This is what they get. The obligation to maintain the old software, because businesses would get angry at them and switch to other systems.
