Since I finally got hardware virtualization working on my gaming machine I thought I'd test it out. I hadn't pursued it before because I don't have so much use for doing that in Windows. But I have a couple Linux distros installed on that machine now that could serve as a backup to my main machine. Anyway to test it out I installed 64 bit Ubuntu 13.04 into a VM. It's been a while since I last looked at Ubuntu, but it still looks the same as it did when they first introduced Unity. The test was basically done at this point but I took a moment to try and wrap my mind around what so many people like about Unity. I launched Firefox from the Unity launcher thing, and Firefox launches full screen. I resized it into a window, but it still looked funky. And there was no menu. No matter what I tried, I couldn't find any conceivable way to open a Firefox menu. And it's not like there isn't room for one - the window otherwise had the same general layout as a normal Firefox window, but where the menu normally would be, the first tab was shoved all the way over in its place. I have Firefox on my Android phone, and it too has no software menu, BUT, it does have a hardware menu. So that's probably it - just more of the Windows 8 mentality, that phones and tablets are all that matters now. Well, I hope they enjoy it :)

Final Term knows which pieces of terminal output represent filenames, PIDs, web URLs or IP addresses and provides context-aware commands for each of them.

Linux Mint 15 is the most ambitious release since the start of the project. MATE 1.6 is greatly improved and Cinnamon 1.8 offers a ton of new features, including a screensaver and a unified control center. The login screen can now be themed in HTML5 and two new tools, “Software Sources” and “Driver Manager”, make their first appearance in Linux Mint. It looks to me like Mint is moving even further away from Ubuntu.

With friends like this it's kinda like getting a donkey dick up your bum..

Neighbor's mom having "issues" with a nice little Toshi notebook.

"This copy of Windows isn't genuine." :headwipe:

Nope sure isn't. Is bootleg of Win-7 Ultimate. (Notebook originally had *BARF* Vista *HACK* on it.) No! WAIT! Even stupider! It's the flipping BETA! 32bit build 7600! WTF was this fool thinking?
Guess her "friend" thought he was doing her a favor by putting this on the thing. Well sure... It worked for a bit till MS decided to check and lock her outta the thing.
So, It was pull the hard drive, Locate and backup all her pics, videos, and such using my rig. Wasn't too bad a task. She's one of the few people I've seen that didn't have docs and pics scattered EVERYWHERE on the drive)
AND... I happen to have the copy of Win-7 pro that used to run on Eler boy's now dead PC to hook her up with.

Have her files all nice and safe. FORMAT! And as long as MS let's me activate this copy all will be good... YES.. If asked I'm claiming "upgrade" ROFL! Well it is a "simple" motherboard change after all right? LOL

Hi all
I have just bought a MIFI mobile modem that is preloaded with 3gb of data from a 3 store as I don't use the tablet that it was bought for very much just wondered how long the sim card lasts.
What I mean by that is, the top up with 3gb of data from 3 store is £21, I have seen the 3gb 3 network sim cards on Amazon for £12, say if I bought a few of them and put them in a draw and used them say over a period of (for argument sake) 5 years would they still work provided they have not been activated, or do they have a sell by date or say a shelf life and would refuse to be activated.

This touches on lots of subjects but it pretty much sums up why I like Mint and am currently using Version 14.

Primarily, for me, it's about the commercialisation of certain Distros and the fact Mint has stayed a desktop OS for desktop users rather than trying to pander to this obsession with touch screens and tablet devices.

The article: http://www.techradar.com/news/softwa...s-1146584#null

Critics and cynics amongst you may think the article perhaps gushing, synchophantic and maybe patronising but still, imo, worth a looksee.
