    I'm losing devices???

So everything was fine and dandy but now....

I'm losing devices, by that I mean, they seem to lose their config and the login screen reappears. If I log them in agin with the same credentials they start again from scratch? WTF is going on here then?

I thought it may be as a result of a domain migration we have just undertaken but that can't be the case as its happened to the kids PC at home at that is in a workgroup and never has been connected to the office.

If it keeps doing this I'm afraid I'll have to pull the plug as I can be doing with phone calls from employees asking about UD. I'm too busy for that sort of thing. Pity, cos the Aus office were almost ready to go for it.

    Ciao~

    HELP!

TEAM...we need to band together and find the solution for Media Command who is a big contributor to our results!

I'm gonna search the UD forums for you...nothing pops out at the moment given what you are telling me. When you re-register, you are saying it doesn't seem to save the registration? It may be that your install is corrupted or the config file doesn't get saved. I'll do some hunting!

    ***UPDATE****
This may be your problem JD....

Multiple instances and duplicated devices may receive "relogin" prompts

    question UD probs

    I hope IA's links helped.

I've had a similar problem when, for one reason or another, I uninstall UD then reinstall it, I can't give the machine the same name and I can't seem to delete any machine from my UD list within the UD device manager. The result is I have about ten machines listed but in fact I'm only using four.

Anybody know a way round that? And is it me, or is the UD configs quite hard to understand? Oi must be tik or sumtink

I believe unless you save the CS file?(0-60 can shed more light on this) before reinstalling, you won't be able to use the same device name. UD assigns a unique device primary key upon installation to any device to avoid you stepping on another potential machine out there. As for delete machines from the UD list, that is a known issue and no way to erase them from your list. Best you can do is filter out your results by last x days or rename your unused devices to maybe Zxxxxx so they appear on the bottom of your list.

I also posted up a new STICKY with tons of information on tips...give that a shot to see if it helps?

    Angry

I Have been having the same problem as JD, started pretty much after the v2.1 agent upgrade.

I run UD monitor, and about a couple of times a week when it switches between caches, it will decide to re-register.

I can understand JD's predicament with getting phone calls, as I had a phonecall from my wife asking me what to do about the "register window on her PC". That's just my wife calling me, entirely different, from getting calls from poeple at work.

I don't loose any results, they still get posted. When I get back from work, I register, giving the cache a new ID and off it starts again. The only hassle is that nowadays I have 49 devices listed! I have been labelling the old devices as xxx, so they are right down the bottom of the UDmanager.

JD - are you running UD Monitor too?

As IA said, we need to help JD get this sorted, as his army of PC's at work is heavy heavy ammo.

    Whats UD monitor?

Its still happening on odd occasions. The worst of it is that the user cant get hold of me cos I'm always busy so they create their own profile and dont tell me again. Great for UD as a whole but bad for team PC.

What is UD monitor and do I need it?

    ping.

UD Monitor is a little proggy that caches proteins, works on them and the sends back the results - I don't advise you using this, as it may excacerbate your problems.

It's happening less often with me now too...

In your situation, UD monitor probably won't apply since you aren't using it.

Did any of the links help you out? I was hoping they would...fill us in bro and we can help ya.
