what was your first fav mobo?

I know that everyone has a new fav. mobo just about once a month, but what was the first mobo/computer setup that got you hooked?

mine was my trusty SD-11 from FIC. I remember getting it from a FOC mod who was ultra cool. I got an Alpha sink/gfd with it. I had a Geforce original which was DOA, but creative replaced with a annihilator MX, but that is a different story.
I hadn't had a system that was fast, but when I had that FIC system, with the thunderbird 800@1000, 256 megs of ram I felt like I was a king. Now I buy systems all the time, well it feels like it, but nothing ever compaired like the first time I fired up that slot setup. I still have it running to this day. I have it in an old IBM case, but she is my secondary gaming machine. I don't think that I will get rid of it, ever.

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Back in the days when Intel reign supreme and Asus whooped everybody's ass, I had an Asus P2L97 mobo w/ 440LX chipset, newly introduced AGP port, and support for slot Pentium II CPU. I had me a Pentium II 266 OCed to 333 w/ Tt Golden Orb, 128MB of slow ass RAM, Diamond Stealth II w/ 8MB of RAM, 2.1GB and 6.4GB Quantum Fireball HD, and Creative DVD-ROM, top with Sony 15" Trinitron, and everything went into a Iwin case.

It sounds odd, seeing as it isn't old, but my current board has to be my fav i've ever used. The Gigabyte GA-7DXR is such a nice board. I never really got to use my P90s board, have no idea what make it was, the VXPro for my P200 was a no namer, and the Athlon 500 from Biostar being the first of its kind was very stable but boring and had some issues with being such an early design.

This one is very mature, tweakable and so well put together and nice to use, i just love it.

    happy fave board?

The first board I used that really made me sit up and pay attention was the FIC Socket 7 VA503+

It really is a very fast and stable board, still using it, it's in the twins' room Has a K6-2 300 in it 2 x 64MB 66Mhz RAM, Voodoo 3 AGP and a Sonic Vortex Soundcard. And a maxtor 20Gb 7200.

    Dang, I love that board

But there again, I only been messing with puters since '96...

Well the first motherboard I ever used in a system that I built myself was a Tyan board based on the via133a chipset for intel cpus. Never really liked that board at all, very stable but wouldn't overclock my celeron without a slocket.

But my favorite mobo would have to be my first Abit kt7. I loved that thing as it marked my first use of an AMD cpu. I had a tbird 1ghz @ 1.1ghz (110x10), 256 megs pc100, geforce2 mx, and a POS coolermaster HSF. But man did I love that system!!!

Too bad I left the case open and the cat decided that it marked the edge of her territory in my room....
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Woohoo Flops, you and me both.

FIC503+ from 1998. used the MVP3 chipset that really put via/amd on the map. Was the only board to support 4x72 pin simms and 2 dimms, both 66 and 100+ FSB, AT and ATX power supply connectors, and gave me my first overclocking experience. The tyan MVP3 board was close, but no overclocking

Needed to do something with my P133 system, and that board let me upgrade one step at a time. First the board, then cpu to a k62 450, then ram (edo 72 pin simms to sdram PC100), AT case to an ATX, then from an Ati mach64(1995) to voodoo combo to a Radeon. All over 3 years.
Still in use today as my sons machine, plays modern games pretty well. Learned a lot from working with that machine. :sniff:

    thumb up hmm...

I'd have to say my first favorite board was the Asus P3B-F slot 1, was one of the first great overclockers, and the BX was, and still is a solid chipset. Still running as a UDer with a PIII 600@800 w/stock HSF.
