KT266A introduced by via

The title says it all, ok, I'm a couple of hours late but this was introduced on Monday, Sept 3. The site has some interesting comparisons and charts of the 2 chipsets so check it out here

Now isn't this a trip. People who just bought the KG7 will either kick themselves, or curse the KT266A chipset (feature in the up coming Abit KR7). On the other hand, some people are still waiting for the nForce chipset mobo.

I don't know what I'm going to do. Screw all the PC processor, chipset and mobo companies, I'll get an Apple G4 Desktop when the price comes down some more.

Yeah, ain't technology and progress wonderful. Used to be it would take at least a couple of months for something to be outdated, now it seems like a weekly thing.

Well that's pretty disappointing since most people thought they would finally get away from VIA chipsets. I guess not. Or at least not until the SIS gets better or the Nvidia comes out.

More things to envy about for Sis and AMD mobo folks. Wait a minute, I think this review was stolen from Anand Tech, just check out the cropped VIA chipset map. Okay, maybe just the map.

That's a good read AmStoned, on top of all this,back in March, Via introduced EIDE in Southbridge chip for a theoretical capacity of 144 petabytes! At the time it got very little press but it could be a significant step. Read about it at:

Okay I get the biggest capacity for IDE HDs and faster transfer rate, but a bit confused on the 144 petabytes (PB). However I do know the VIA KT266A will be the first chipset to support ATA133? Am I getting this, or is the article reported to vague, thus dragging me down.

Now that I reread the article I'm not sure either. Also, ALI introduced a Southbridge supporting Maxtor's new Ultra ATA/133 today. Partway down the page here is the story on the ALI chipset. It just seems to get more confused every day now.
