Sigh...AMD is getting desperate...first the chip rating and now this...

We'll just have to wait and see if AMD shot itself in the foot. Personally, I think they're taking a big marketing gamble but what do I know.

Also read the article on The Enquirer. What a disgrace. I mean, please, just state your actual speed. Don't go basing your standard on the evil Intel's speed. Screw Intel.

Remember the consumer backlash that Cyrix got when they tried to do the same ratings to their Chips??? And now XP???

AMD get a clue...redesign your pipeline or layout and accelerate your transition to 0.13u!!

Instead of selling a 1.5GHz Athlon, AMD will sell the chip as an Athlon 1900+.

Ok, so I order a 1900 only to find its a 1500 ... can I sue?

The thing is, the XP play could work to make stupid consumers thing that you have to get an Athlon XP to run Windows XP increasing AMD market share which is always a good thing.

MD, is the general public that guillable or am I just on the inside looking out? A lot of you guys deal with people on a day to day basis regarding puters, would they actually fall for this. Maybe I'm naive, but I can't believe the general public would buy this scheme, it failed once before but if they can buy an amd "1800" for $400 cheaper than an intel 1.5 gig, who knows.
