Team Members...

April is coming very soon and as you all know, there has been a lot of talk about the Cancer Project ending and wheter UD will continue with it or tranfer the to another type of Disease.

The Cancer project was a huge success and surpassed all expectations. Read the following thread for how much proteins were collectively crunched by all involved!

I hope a new project is tackled and I am crossing my fingers! There are many forms of cancer we can cure and other diseases.

TEAM PC TEAM PC....of course if the project ends and we have to restart on another project through UD or elsewhere, the name WILL change to something more palatable to all so we can get the support of the corporate rigs that some of our members have been having a hard time getting onboard. Kinda sad though...I have grown accustomed to our foolish name and its made waves around the UD forums

Yeah, I’ve been reading their forums on when it would end, and what new projects they might come up with. There’s a long running thread on that subject here

Also, IA, I don’t have a fraction of the firepower of most of you guys, but I am really enthused about this UD project, because it has given me something new to learn, i.e. networking. I look forward to ideas on what new projects we should hook our rigs up to. Any idea? Maybe you should start a new thread on that subject. It is not to early to start discussing it.

Yea, maybe they could do something on HCV (Hepatitus C Virus) or HIV. Aids is known to the world and is a scourge on the face of the earth. HCV is a silent deadly killer, and no one knows the extent of it. Of course there is Malaria, that kills 1 million people in Africa every year.

There are many worthy projects. I am sure they will find one.

If it does end, and it looks likely it will, it would be good to take all the Team PC members to another cause.

Unless something better comes up, I personally favour Folding@Home although I realise some of you aren't that keen on the project.

And a reminder. Lottsa Team members are sitting on prizes. Those prizes, with the way PC technology moves on, are becoming dated.

I think we have to find a cause, organise a competition, and dish the prizes out.

Either that or cancel the competition, which would be a shame as there were some wonderful donations offered by members.

Word Flops. As soon as I get wind of the project continuing, the competition will begin. Alternatively, we find another project when this project closes and start the competition drive there!

I haven't done folding at home since the console version days...if it look anything as polished as UD I would defintaely consider it!

I'd hate to see UD go. I've grown accomstomed to it after a year of crunchin'.

But like IA said, we could probably continue the competition once we get a new team established and new paramaters set.

Damn, I've used up all the cables I bought for the competition and then some. Actually, a lot more. I've lost count of how many round cables I bought from SVC. The Active RAM cooling kit's still NIB though, but I might... damn, just opened it too. :hapystone

Well, if UD ends, hopefully there will be something else to work on. Folding's easy to run, and I've tried it, but I don't know if everybody else will like it..

Stoner - LOL! I've got the Muse Sound card I had put by for the compo in this rig right now but I could get hold of another to replace it.

Looking ahead - if it's RIP Panty Chasers - anybody got any ideas for a new team name? Early days I know, but perhaps worth considering?

I suppose the obvious choice would be BitbenderForums; Bitbender's Renegades; Bitbender's misfits; Bitbender's Pervy Collective; Bitbender's Unique gathering; The Smiley Folks from BitbenderForums..... Hee-hee

Hmmm, has to be Corporate acceptable eh? Well let's not lose the humorous edge to the name eh?

I don't know if anyone has considered this but just because the Cancer project terminates we don't have to leave UD or form another team. We could just stick together as panty chasers and wait till the next UD project comes along.

Given that the team would be pumping out results from day 1, we'd be in the top 50 easy.

And i see no need to change the team name just for the sake of a few more members. After all, the original purpose was calling the team that was to have fun, which we did and still licked ass. IMO

I think I stand with MD (not on the licking, well . . . maybe) - rather than join a project already in motion, late coming to the party, I would like to see the team start on a new project from the git-go.

There is some question in the UD forums on whether or not the UD will continue using the GlobalMetaprocessor or do the rest of the project another way. THINK(Keith) is working on a new DC agent. I haven’t seen any official announcements, but it looks like the project might run past April 1st, perhaps until June. We’ll see. I also haven’t seen anything on what new projects they have in the works, although it appears they are working on developing some.

AFA the name goes, I have no problem with it. It can be a sensitive issue though, and I would not be averse to modifying it somewhat, but as Flops says, keep the sense of humor.

How about removing the written words "panty chasers'' down in the bottom right of your logo and just having the girls fanny with Team PC. Everyone crunching knows what that stands for. The corporate people might think in terms of "personal computer"?

Some funny ideas for names being brainstormed here!

If UD does continue even with a different project, I would like to see our team stay intact and continue with UD. We will vote of course but their agent seems to be polished and stable.

In spirit with our creed, we will vote on which project and changing/keeping name!

And Pat, we would love to have your efforts on our team!

Of course, there's is nothing stopping you from doing that now

As far as I'm concerned, Martz has chosen our new name for a new project, and a very good one at that. One, I am sure we would have ended up with anyway. At the moment PC is my home, we have to see what UD is going to do. The main thing is that we continue to support our forum. I am willing to contribute to any worthy project that UD has.

I do think that we should have enough clout to petition UD for a variance if necessary.
