    Nvidia Detonator 28.90 Performance Comparison

Everything seems to be running fine with the new 28.90 drivers on my rig. I've been using them all day with no problems. I have not had time to benchmark them either with 3dmark or an opengl standard yet, perhaps tomorrow.

In the meantime, VR-Zone has done some quick tests on the newly leaked Detonator 28.90 driver. Intially it was thought that these were just another leaked Detonator driver but they have caught some attention when it seems to improve performance as feedback by other enthusiasts indicate.

DarkCrow of Korea has done some quick tests on the newly leaked Detonator 28.90 driver using 3DMark 2001 and SPEC viewperf6.1.2. They compared DetonatorXP v28.90 against v28.32.

    Pat,
One reason for having problems on installing video drivers is, some people don't uninstall the previous version,or do it correctly.

I have found what works best for me is to shut everything down except Explorer & Systray.Go to the control panel to Add/Remove and uninstall the drivers listed.

It will tell you to reboot when you finish,do so at that point. When your computer starts back up,if you have plug & play,Windows will build the PCI to VGA driver. You then go to device manager and update the PCI,when it gets to the point where it shows drivers, check the box to show all.At the top right you'll see the Standard VGA,install that even if Windows says it's wrong.

After you install the Standard VGA it will ask you to reboot,at that point say no,and go ahead and install the 28.32 or whatever you have selected to install. Then you reboot and your good to go .It took me a few times to realize just when to reboot, and when not to lol,Tuff

Tuff, which OS are you using? If you're using WinXP, you won't even get the option of choosing the video driver. The OS will auto detect the video card install a suitable driver for you. Now if you want to install a updated driver after that, use Zammy's unzip the nVidia .EXE Det file using WinZip, or just double click it. I have had no prob updating driver using the 2nd method, but that's 'cause I use a GF2 MX card, while Zammy uses a GF3 card. GF3 and GF4 cards are just bitches when it comes to compatibility and driver updates.

    Refresh rate compatible 28.90's

nvchips-fr.com sent us a mail letting us know they have put up the latest nVIDIA (leaked) Detonator XP 28.90 with the refresh compatible .inf

This will make it so that the latest drivers will work with the NVIDIA Refresh Rate fix program, that otherwise cannot detect your graphics card settings.
