Easy CD Ripper is an all-in-one music tool that includes a CD ripper, WAV to MP3 converter, WAV to WMA converter, WAV to OGG converter, WAV to VQF converter, ID3 editor, and more. It supports saving audio CD tracks into WAV, MP3, OGG, VQF or WMA files. Get it here or here

    Hope that helps!

    vixxen:

Here's another one, I've been using this for years, it does a good job. Comes in three parts - Converter (that's the one you want) CD player and aux. input module, for recording stuff from line in. And it's free

    Tuffie:

Nope, I haven't tried the Music Player, I'm actually quite happy with Winamp. I tried quite a few before I settled on Winamp and used Real Player Jukebox for almost a year.

Sonique isn't too bad either. I've also got a player bundled with Nero, haven't tried that....

And of course there's the Windows Media Player that comes with XP - jury's out on that one

Sorry can't be of much help...

Actually, Tuff, I downloaded and installed it last night. Seems to work just fine, but I'm still learning it's finer points.

Mind you, it took me a while to figure out how to use Winamp

So, Flops - I dnld'd dbPowerAmp converter - very nice! I'd been using Acoustica's "mp3 to wav converter" - this is a helluva lot faster. BTW, I'm buring country music - Mickey Newberry, Red Sovine, Don Williams, Boxcar Willie, Mo Bandy - Hank, & Hank Jr, you know, all the good ole boys . . .

    Thanks for the link!

So what's the best way to copy a Music CD file (.cda) to the hard drive as an MP3?

    Thanks Whip!

    Case:

If you're using dbPowerAmp, start the program (converter) then browse and select the files you want to convert. The browser will show an audio CD in your CD-ROM drive, with tracks listed.

Click on 'Open' and you'll get a choice of formats to convert to. Choose MP3 Lame, it's the better one. In the next Window, browse to the folder you want to save your MP3's in and click on 'Convert'. It's that simple.

DUDE! That ROCKS! Soooo Cool - That works really great. I know it's pretty lame to ask such a simple question, but I really hate to dick around with software just to figure out how to do one simple thing. 'preciate it man - Really good proggie. I just used it to convert a whole album, just one click. Thanks again!

    happy Case:

Good news I've been using that proggie over a year now, it's served me well. And it was recently upgraded. And as for asking questions, why the hell not? I always ask about things I'm not sure of here, no matter how 'simple' my question may seem to some. That's what the Forum is all about.

I do believe Quadophile likes dbPowerAmp as well.

Ok, I have all my music tracks converted, ready and waiting to burn on to CD. But, My Nero app was a trial only and it has expired! Could someone point me in the direction of another CD burning app (easy to use!) Preferably, a freebie or at least a trial so i could see if i like it:!:

    Vixxen:

    You gotta PM.

If you're using XP it has it's own burning software built in, based on Adaptec software I think, and it will do all the basic stuff. It will certainly handle burning your WAV files (or MP3) to CD.

I use Easy CD Creator - seems to work pretty well. I've only burned a few music CD's, all in the last few days. It ought to be real easy to get - there are lots of copies floating around out there . . . .
