Anybody got any idea why W2k handles sis ide controllers so poorly that all devices run PIO mode??
i've had a hunt around to see if i can find some suitable chipset drivers, but none seem to be available, and M$ KB has no refernce to it![]()

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

yup mucks... installed and all.... 2k just seems to have issues with SIS ide controllers.
i spotted something on KB that says the controller may be running in dma mode even if it says pio, but i'm getting mouse jerkiness under any disk load so i't a pretty safe bet that poi means zackley that.
I got the AGP109M.EXE file from that site, and the ide components within fixed the problem.... cant tell exactly if she's running DMA (because i no longer have that option in the controller setup), but the jerkiness has dissapeared![]()
