I skim down the center block about once every 2-3 days. no more or less than I do any other tech/forum site. I used to read a couple thourghly every day but time has become much more of a premium anymore so I usually dont read all em all the time.

I usually hit the front page once or twice a day, take a look at the articles etc.I read what interest me,and check to see if any photos need to be posted. My guess is that most come to the forum, but I'm sure that is the case on most sites that have them.

I'm pretty much locked on the forums page and rarely go elsewhere as that seems to keep me pretty busy.

I feel that by constantly monitoring the "New Posts" I find out about most of the stuff anyway.

That's not to say I won't ever look at it but it is just not part of my regular routine.

    Ahhhhh What Front Page?

Just kidding!, I have my link set directly to the forums so I end up there first. I have read the front page now and then and you do have some pretty good links there.

I don't always look at everything on the front page, but I do glance at it every day for articles, shouts, etc.

I pretty well look it over a couple times a day and if there is anything that catches my eye I look into it further. I do find it a usefull feature.

I usually come directly to the forums, unless I have to type in the URL, and then I see the front page. Like Spez, I monitor new posts and the new posts for the last 24 hours, and anything new on the front page is covered there. I have looked at it more since I contributed an article, and already mentioned elsewhere that I thought the navigation to the articles index needed a little work to make it more accessible to guests.

One thing that I don't like, is that the front page is often wider than the monitor I'm using, and doesn't adjust like the forum threads do. Some people's sigs do that too, which makes it rather bothersome to scan the page, because you have to scroll horizontally to read it all. My tendency is to just skip those posts, unless they are really relevant to the ones below it. A little OT, sorry . . . .

Straight to the forums.. Then I check the gallery to see if there were any new posts. Rarely do I ever stop to look at the front page.

Groucho I've wondered who did that page!

    Hellva good job, Zammy!

I'm still using my Yahoo page as my home page, but am considering the Bitbender page for my home page. Getting a little tired of the Yahoo. And most of the "news" they provide is not what I want to read about anyway.

Fact is, I rarely view the TV news anymore. Too much crapola. The major networks are nearly as ugly as the scummy rags in the supermarkets. All they can report on is sex and violence. The bloodier the better.

But then, that's another rant of mine.

Straight to front page, then click on the Forum button from there - however, I only glance at what I can see on the Front Page when I get there - I only scroll all the way down about once a week.

The resolution my screen is set to allow me to see Latest Site articles and the very top Front page news article... I have a quick glance to see who is Currently Active as that is visible without scrolling down - the Technology Affiliates, I know anyway, may be nice to rotate some?

What I would like to see is the top of the Front page condensed, so I can see a one line description of each article. I like the Photo-gallery pic there, but would like to see the PM and shout box moved up higher so they appear in my screen.

Basically I would like to see the Front page re-jigged to get more info in the top half so I can see a summary of whats further down the page

now that someone's said it, i have to say i concur w/those thoughts, TechV. i, too, am set up that way, and have to admit, i don't always scroll down to get the full info.

something to consider, thanks for the inputs.

i can see the latest article box being condensed no doubt.

I'll think about moving up the PM box but the Shout Box will have to stay below as the Donate and Gallery Box needs to stay up there. Or I can think up another layout....hmmmm gimme some time to brainstorm

And if you don't like scrolling down, why the hell you got a scroll wheel mouse!!! it takes me 1 sec to scroll my mouse down to the bottom...

what's disturbing is the majority of people don't read the front page judging from the votes. as i have said before, there is a wealth of good information being refreshed daily there by the Staff.

it's like the folks skip the front page of the newspaper and go straight to the funnies section...arrrgh

    A couple of things IA

I have also been thinking how we could get more in to the top half of the front page - on either side of the main banner there is empty space.

As u say there is a lot of front page news, some read it form the front page forum, inside the forum, but way few read it from the front page.

People have odd habits, and don't always do things logically or the way u expect them, or want them too.

My recommendation would be to try packing out the top of the front page. Reduce size of article box, move the affiliates down - do they need to have prime space, are we given prime space on other sites? We need prime space for us.

Get the top half of the page very full and very busy - a bit like on of those advert pages where they cram lotsa stuff in, make it bright and colourful, but mostly make it so u can see at a glance exactly what is new and is further down the page.

re takes two seconds to scroll down page, yes it does, but I'm lazy.... what can I tell you....

I'm forum oriented; I usually click on forums links. If I'm looking for tech news, then I click on my "Tech Media" links. Actually, for this and other forums, it really would be more productive to go first to the main site, then switch to the site's forums.

    Hi guys!

I would like to retake my vote, there is lots of good tech news up there, while i didn't have the time to read it before, i didn't give it its deserved appreciation, now i do have the time, and no exuses, so i have been reading it, some really great stuff. fine work by all.
