Going back in time; who here has a rev 1.3 KT7A board?

I displaced a few XP chips during a recent spate of upgrading. Wanting to get use out of them and keeping $$ outlay to a bare minimum, I came upon the idea of getting a rev 1.3 KT7A, throwing an XP chip in it , pulling my BP6, w it's dual Celerons, out of it's current home ( my first build ) and getting an instant minimum 1,100 MHz speed jump( or so I'm hoping). All for $49 ( for the new motherboard ).

I have a 1.33 TBird in a rev 1.0 version of this board and am real familiar with, and fond of it.

What I want to know is what XP chips will the rev 1.3 board run? Any Palomino?

Is anybody here running this combo? What CPU do you use in it? How does it work for you?
    Also, 2 last questions
    • Does the board handle 512MB DIMMS?
    • How many DIMM slots can I use? Am hoping for 3 . (1 512 and 2 256's)

Any input would be much appreciated!

CPU support for the KT7A version 1.3 board is as follows:

AMD SocketA Athlon (100 / 133MHz FSB) up to 1.4GHz.

AMD SocketA Duron (100 MHz FSB) up to 1.3GHz.

AMD SocketA AthlonXP Palomino (0.18 micron process) up to 2100+.

AMD SocketA AthlonXP Thoroughbred (0.13 micron process) up to 2000+.

    as per ABIT

I have a version 1.3 board and am running an XP 1600+ @ 1.52. When and if I ever get it unlocked, I'm sure it'll go higher.

I'm running two sticks of ram atm. It will run three but usually requires some bios tweaking.

Right on. I'm dumping my sentimental attachment to my first build. It is an Abit BP6, with dual Cel 366's@551, in an Addtronics "monster" case.

Gonna yank the mobo, CPU's and HSF(s).

Put in an XP1900 AGOGA with a SLK- 800.

A definite upgrade! That friggin Intel system is dogass slow!

Well, it was listed, as you know, at Newegg. I called Customer Service, spoke to Carlos, and said I had to know the rev #. He put me on hold, came back and said it was impossible to ascertain exactly what rev it was. However, we both discussed it, and agreed that it was highly unlikely that they had recently sold and recently had returned to them a rev 1.1 or 1.0 board . He told me go ahead and get it, if you want. If it is not a rev 1.3, ship it back, call him ( gave me his ext. # ), and he will refund my shipping cost.

I've never had a prob with CS at newegg, at all. They are 1st rate. So, I'm pretty sure it will be a 1.3, but if not, no big deal, I'll be sending it back to them, on their dime. Oh yeah, it is free shipping on the way out to me, too. A pretty good deal all around. Looking forward to looking at the rev. #. They are real close to me, less than 300 miles, so it should be here Tues, possibly Monday.

Figure if I put in one of displaced 1900s, it will be triple the megahurts, and AMD megahurts at that. Serious upgrade on the cheap, have everything but the board.

    Great minds think alike.

It was sweet 3 years ago, but now all I use mine for is burning cds and a juke box.

I'm thinking that I can put it in the 21st century for less than $250.00
