Now that the summer is at a close, well at least ours is Its time to take advantage of the drop and overclock our rigs more. I have just managed to get mine to 1667MHz (145X11@1.8v) and its seems stable so far. This is only a tempory overclock as we could still have the odd warm day! I plan to get a water cooling setup soon but have no idea of what to get or who will deliver to the UK without me having to remove an arm for payment.

Oh yeah, my load temp at 1667 was 52*C after running UD all day. Case temp was 22*C.

So, do you guys plan to OC more now that winter is on the way?

Yes! Here's the weird thing though, despite room temps dropping from around 23C to 20C (current temp) my computer temps haven't changed a bit. Odd.

However, after struggling a whiles, my overclock of my AXIA9 1.2 to 1.32 is holding steady and everything's working fine & stable.

Shouldn't have said that, should I?

We can control the air conditioning and heating in our rooms here in the dorms, so my case temp is always about 21C. Regardless, I won't be able to overclock anymore on my KT7-RAID board. Gotta wait until I upgrade.

I've got AC in my car.

People in the US only have AC because it's a warmer and more humid country than ours and they need it.

We dont have air conditioning because we live in a moderately cold climate DannyBall...... even during the summer, the temps rarely rise beyond 25-27C, and during the winter, our normal temps are in single figures, so aircon is kinda a waste of time.

In the hot summer nights in Phoenix, there will be weeks when it doesn't drop below 100 at night...I lived there for a year

Try Overclocking your rig in those conditions...you may have to underclock it

But the sun babes made it all worth it...but Panty Chasin' in the blazing sun was sure tiring and sticky

BTW, DB...didn't you say you really didn't care about the Karma feature? But you keep bringing it up :

Jeeeeeeeeeeezuz Dan Boy gedda life and quit yer whingeing.

You reap what you sow matey.

Now somebody gave me negative karma on this thread. Wonder who that might be? A prerequisite for social intercourse should be having a sense of humour, IMO.

I personally haven't given out one negative karma hit yet, nothing on this Forum has warranted it, IMO, although a couple of posts have come close.

The karma thing doesn't bother me, I think it's good fun, but, ah, I'm lost for words...

As for air conditioning, climates vary throughout the world. Everywhere isn't Texas. I live in the London suburbs, 1930's brick built semi, full central heating. It has air bricks fitted. I don't suffer from humidity at all.

In fact, only thing I suffer from is sometimes freezing my nuts off in the shower unless I leave the wall fan heater on for about twenty minutes beforehand.

Another reason we don't need A/C is our houses. They are all made of brick. and have double walls. These have the effect of keeping the houses warm in the winter and cool in summer. The extra layer of air between the two walls acts as a layer of insulation. Just about every house i've seen in America is built out of wood which isn't as good insulator (and as far as i could tell they didn't have double walls either)
