well I have had something happen to my dear computer that sent my heart for a loop. I have a lexan side cover with a switch to control a blacklight in the case. I removed the switch (computer off) and cleaned the computer HSF, and sorts out. I replaced the cover and fired up the beast. I was running my computer UD at 1550 and then the unthinkable happeded. One led off the switch fell off and arched against the side of the case instantly shutting the computer off and sending me on a heart attack. I got a big black mark on the side of the case. I then (after a few moments) tried to fire the machine back up and only after I reset the CMOS I was able to get it to go. I got windows blue screens and write protection errors so I reformated my HD and started over. Now I can't have the pc at 1550 overnight, it locks up and there is a blue screen telling me "error"
puking all over the screen and forcing me to reboot. In your opinion did I toast the cpu? I have had it at the stock speed doing UD for 2 days and it hasn't locked up, but I can't increase the speed at all.
I feel like such an idiot for doing such a STUPID mistake.

AKA The Slayer
Firstly, I feel your pain. I'm sure we can all sympathise with you on this one.
I hear what you are saying about your CPU, however I would look at the memory also. In my experiance, when a PC has had a bad electrical episode the motherboard, CPU or memory are the first to suffer. What FSB are you running?
I don't what to tell you how to suck eggs but have you got any spare memory? or can you get any to test.
Hope this helps a little.

Catcorpse: Sad to say, it looks like the only way you gonna track down the faulty component is by substitution and a process of elimination, as The Slayer has pointed out.
If you can lay your hands on another CPU, even if it's only a slow Duron or some generic RAM, to help you pinpoint the fault, well and good. If not, well, good luck.
As for bad luck, check out my 'Today I have my Mr Stupid Hat on' Thread in the 'Village Idiot' section. Maybe, just maybe, that'll make you feel better.
I wish you luck mate.

well I guess tommorow when time permits I will do the parts change game. I was running it at 151fsb and 10 multi. I have run the FSB up to 158 stable. I do have a few other boards that I can swap out stuff, just hate to cry if I find out that this will be expensive.

Ouch Bro...sorry to hear that
Judging from your last post, it appears you can still OC the FSB which leads me to believe your memory is fine. If you leave the FSB stock at 133, how high can you up the CPU?

ok sorry took so long.....right now I am at 11x140(1540) and the computer hasn't locked up yet, been on for 1 hour now.
12X140=1680 posts but it don't reconize the Harddrive, had this problem before, don't know how to fix it, but I know that the computer is capable.
when I really start to push the FSB like I use to the computer locks up after 3-5 hours.
I am going to play some UT to see how long it can go, or I can go
