My power bill isn't all that bad; that blower only pulls 1.6amps and the whole setup pulls around 8 amps altogether. I've removed quite a bit of electronics that were no longer needed and reduced the number of machines from 6 to 2 as the pair of Duallies do all the work of the 6 original rigs.....Here is a chronicle of some of the changes that have been made to it over the past months......

Quite a thread. Death Star has been thru a huge evoloution! Well I can't give enough comments in one post but it truly is an awesome accomplishment.

I admire that you can indulge yourself with such passion in something that interests you, as it doesn't appear that you allow any "unnecessary guilt" to get in the way, at least I hope not.

Sometimes I admonish myself for spending so much on this interest, tho my stuff is very very pale in comparison to your own. Life is so short F1, and I'm glad your having fun!!! Thanks for posting your pics.

The is behind the door of the beast now, theres an LCD for a thermal probe which i've yet to connect and also to fried XP chips to serve as a reminder to never assume that the core is touching the heat sink. The sticker is a Dual Bios sticker of my mobo (it was placed over the PCI slots inside the anti static bag just to look cool so i thought i'd have it on my case.

LOL Dawg thats too funnae...its like ex's you can never forget them i suppose.

i thought you had side blowholes on your case? If so, you aren't leaving much clearance for fresh air to enter?

No, no side blowholes. Just three intakes at the front, 2 at the back, and one exhaust at the top back (along with PSU exhaust).

There are side vets (i.e. lots of small holes) but they only allow the high pressure design to bleed of air. I actuall get dust patterns forming on the side of those draws. I might take a photo for you later.

Looks good KC, I passed on the Enlight case because I thought it was too small, looks like I may have been mistaken
I believe that is an Abit KT7 raid mobo there, same as me. How much room is there between the heatsink and power supply? Think you can you get an 80mm heatsink/fan in there?

    Thanks a lot.
Looks like it should be able to hold just about any 80mm sink plus the fan grille on the bottom of my p/s. Still have to take out the mobo to get at the clip, but Im used to that

    Me case innards.

Not the tidiest of interiors, but the cables are out of the way of the airflow.

And heavens above, will you look at the fluff on that Alpha

    Where's that vacum cleaner....

OMFG, Flops stole my setup! Panaflo high w/ Alpha 8045? But damn, what's up w/ the fur? Stop scratching yourself flops and get some brush to clean the dust bunnies.

The 'Lego' block is just a piece of terminal block for the fan switching. atm I've only got the two i/p fans switched, the exhausts are connected straight to the motherboard and monitored by mbm.

All four are YS-Techs, btw. Fairly quiet, definitely acceptable over what I've had in the past.

And yup, needs a vacum. I just noticed the floor of the case is a bit grubby as well. The horror, the shame!

Nice an neat flops. Not putting your hd's in the lower bay is for increased airflow right?

guess ya forgot about my filter trick.

BTW, I like the new avi

Sorry Dramen, I did read your filter post and considered it, but it slipped from my mind. Now where was it? (D'ya have a link? )

Yep, the HDD's are there for airflow, gives the two input fans a clear path and the drives (IBM GX60P's, 20Gb each) barely get warm so IMO don't need cooling.

Neat? You think so? The top of the case is like a big bunch of spaghetti where I've crammed all the PSU and fan switching cables up there. But like I mentioned, a clear path for air.

My Avi is a 2CV I used to own 'Flea' (look at the number plate). It was a 'Beachcomber' edition. Sold it in '94 to some mad lady in Dulwich Village. I used to see it around until two years ago, haven't seen it since, hope she didn't come to grief in it

Here's the front of the case showing blue LED's a go-go

And here's one taken a little closer, showing in excruciating detail the dirt that's gathered around the fan on the disk caddy :joy:

Flops, filter idea, works good too.
    http://www.bitbenderforums.com/vb22/...409#post151409

Yup neat, as in, u did a good job clearing the way for air flow. Been thinking about opening up the hd bay myself, since I doubt the fan has any great affect on the hd's.
my case is a mess again, since I just swapped out my cpu and had to take everything apart. Might switch to velcro for the spagetti mess since tie backs have to be cut everytime I make a change.

I see you got the savior in there, scary bit a work!

    Love the blue led's.

    Love the car even more!

Dramen : I just used the standard wire clips that came with the SK6 and hooked them over the corners of the Antec fan. I previously had a 92mm 3000rpm Delta on top of this heatsink, and it did a superb cooling job. Problem was i just couldn't take the damn whine any longer, so the Dalta got shelved for this pretty fan. Cooling wise, i've only noticed a 2C increase in temps with the Antec. My full load temps are 36C Core, and 22C Ambient, tho i reckon a lot of that is down to the 2 120mm NMB's located in the side of the case, which i have running at 7V.

All in all, the system runs cool, and quiet. I have no cause for complaint.

James : Yup! I love MSI boards to death. Mt K7T never gave me a moments bother, and the KT3 Ultra is shaping up to be exactly the same. At the same time i replaced this board, i put an MS-6390 all-in-one in my wifes machine, and it set up with zero drama.

The Abit Kt7a-R that was in my wife's machine has now been donated to my sisters rig, and the difference in performance between that, and the M810lr she was using is making her a very happy camper
