Corsair XMS PC3200C2 vs the same, but platinum version – 3853 days old

Does the platinum version perform better, or what?
What is the reason for the price discrepancy?

Surely, it can't come down to looks. ?!

I mean, who cares what it looks like? The performance is the paramount thing.

Anybody have the informed scoop here?

It lists the same specs, so it may be just the heat spreader. Don't know why Platinum colour would offer more thermal efficiency. I think I would stick with the normal heat spreader.
