    Tired of telemarketers?

It seems the telezapper might not always work with those annoying telemarketers. This site has some info on that, and a wav form to put at the start of your outgoing message on your machine that seems to work:

This probably only helps the US crowd....

I was seriously thinking of buying a telezapper, think I'll put it on hold for a while. TV was full of news last night about doing something about telemarketers, but I didn't catch mutch of it..sounded like FCC or some gov. org. was involved..

Thanks for the info. Interesting read.

I saw that too Pat,it says they are Finally going to stop a lot of the telemarketing. There will be a mailing soon, and also a place to go on the Web to Opt out. However it sounds as though the companies we deal with, will still have the right to do so

I saw that too, but it appears it will be next year before this plan is implemented. As I type, the sit.wav file is on my answering machine that was obtained from another source. I recorded it from my speakers to the machine and after a short pause, recorded my outgoing message. The three tones are the ones you hear when you reach a wrong or out-of-service number. I have been sitting here and heard the other party, either a person or a computer, hang up on the very first tone!

I've had it for about a month or so and believe it is working and for the price, hey what does it hurt?

Hell you sign the opt out and I am sure you will be hit byy millions of telemarketers. That way they know you are a real person and/or a legitimate number.

YOu might be opting out from a certain number of Telemarketers but I am sure the list will circulate big time. Stupid idea, IMHO.

I saw that too. Sounds like they have the right to call because of the Constitution. It's interesting how a guideline that was put together to help us, gets twisted and turned around to fit whoever and whatever people need it to. Seems to get taken out of context. Kind of like the Bible.

Oh man, you could go into an endless discussion about religion there. I will not go into it, but to put it short I think people are following a book written by humans blindly without even thinking twice sometimes - its a simple way out of atempting to understand the universe and our existence as human beings in it. Those who don't want to do any of this simply find a religion they "believe" in and well, it makes their lives easier. Then you can get into the whole what it is to "believe" question and you have yourself another philosophy book. So I'll stop there.

But yeah, you make a good point. Nothing is foolproof, no matter how much people try to make it.
