My current YAMAHA DSP speakers are on their last legs, crackling sounds and left speaker cuts out for long periods. So it's time to spend some more money on new speaker, I've heard the Klipsch 5,1 speakers are meant to be very good but can't find anywhere in the UK that sells them. What other speaker sets do you recommend?
please, no spezi style £5k sound system suggestions

I have the Altec Lansings with the boom box,and they work fine. They are not that expensive, and I compared them to some that were a lot more money, but not better sound.

I've got Altec Lansing 5 pc. surround sound speakers.
Paired with a _good_ sound card, they sound very good for the cost.
Speakers were $50.

For what you want (and since you obviously can afford Klipsch 5.1s but can't find anywhere to buy them), see if you can buy a set of Logitech Z680s...very nice as well.

i have a set of cambridge soundworks fps1600's (i think) which cost around 50 quid .... my beloved complains endlessly about the windows shaking at relatively low volumes, so they must be ok

They all look really nice but does anyone know where I can get the Klipsh in the UK? If not I'll go with one of the suggestions here.

Can't even find it on eBay.co.uk...I think Klipsch only authorized their speakers to U.S. customers.

Weird, as I've seen Alienware in the UK sell them with their systems, are they allowed to do this because they are based in the US but have operations in the UK?

Was looking in the wrong place, needed to look in proffesional sounds stores.

£350, pretty good for those speakers

Ahh, glad you found them Furton. I searched hi-fi stores too, didn't seem to hit any that had the 5.1 (there were a few that had 2.1 and 4.1). Good luck with the purchase

Why would they do that?

No idea...doesn't make sense to me either. However, I read a year or two ago in an issue of Maximum PC where a Canadian customer was complaining about how he cannot get a set of ProMedias in his country, and wanted the editor's help in searching for a dealer. The jist of the reply was: "too bad."
I see that Klipsch has extended their countries of distribution...as listed here: http://www.klipsch.com/dealerlocator/index.asp
