Microsoft has been awarded a patent allowing them to Launch a certain kind of HTML application within its Windows software.
The patent states "Method and apparatus for writing a Windows application in HTML" (Hypertext Markup Language), describes Microsoft's way of opening up HTML applications in a window free of navigation and other interface elements, known as "chrome"."
Microsoft has been on the defensive because of another patent for running applications within a Web browser. The plug-in patent belongs to the University of California and is licensed to a one-man company Eolas.
