    Microphone port

Just got my self a creative web cam with microphone but don't have any spare plugs for it. My 5.1 speakers are taking up all 3 outputs on my on-board sound (Sound storm) and I've got nothing else to plug it into.

Any suggestions? I've got a spare sound card here but not sure if I can have 2 active at the same time.

Why would you want to put a mic on a speaker out?

I'm looking at my ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe, and I have a mic port on it. Along with the plugs to have suround sound.

I'm trynig to look for your mobo picture , not finding one i want tho.
I may not be smart enough to do everything, but I'm dumb enough to try anything - BB

Look for a pink coloured jack to plug into.

Unless you have a mike in your speakers, I suspect you got something wrong.

There's no mike on the speakers or the sub and I don't get full 5.1 if I don't plug all three cables into the 3 jacks on my mobo.

    Something aint right my friend.

The pink is a mic lvl input on virtually every card I have ever heard of or see.

quick check of the spec sheet you linked to indicates that it does indeed have a mic lvl in/out and a line in.

I'd double check your manual than.

From what I can see, your mobo doesn't support 5.1.
I can only see 3 plugs, as in the pic

    It does support 5.1 as
a: I'm using it right now
b: It's the Soundstorm chipset which supports 5.1

I've got all three of those jacks filled with the Creative DTT2200 speakers.

    Heretic: Thanks

    Hmm, weird.

Mine has 6 plugs, 4 for speakers, 1 for line in, and 1 for mic

I don't know about that particular board, but I have seen the mic socket on some cards/onboard sound being switchable between being part of a 5.1 system and a mic socket.

Which, Furton, as far as I can see, means you're ****ed.

I've got the following connections on my add-on card (ACR) and it has the following connectors, are these any good?

    Rear Right / Rear Left
    Center Channel / Subwoofer

If you can use that card instead of the way you have it now, I think you would be good

Been told that I could use another sound card just for mike in? Would this work?

Second sound card will probably cause all sorts of problems. Dunno haven't tried it. might be able disable portions.

Can you trade that camera in for a usb one?

.... or just learn sign language.

That is one thread were I've been asking questions, seems like the best idea so far. Not sure if it'll work though.
