    Mech Warrior Being Tested

A BMW Mini Cooper r50 has been converted into a bi-pedal car catching monster. The robot uses six computers to coordinate its functions.

One computer handles balance and locomotion, another for visual processing, the third diagnostics and watchdog, the forth planning and mapping, the fifth dexterous manipulation and the sixth, coordination, watchdog and safety.

Its sensor system combines all known sensor types including, proprioception sensors, infrared, hi-rez lidar and bump sensors. It even has olfactory sensors that can tell the difference between transmission fluid, oil, break fluid and gasoline.

Check it out in action - http://www.r50rd.co.uk/research/inte.../stop_test.htm

It is harder and harder to make a case to a weary and dismayed population that the Western way of life as managed by the Anglosphere ought to be spread around the world at the point of a gun.

That thing is absolutly MIND BLOWING....

I don't really know much about robotics, but that thing looks light-years ahead of anything else I've seen. Especially the Lidar array...

I can SOOO see the military buying this one up... Mech Commander, indeed..

If that's true, I'm gonna be pretty pissed. Still, What proof does he have that it is a fake? All I've found is that blurb that "Several readers have written to say that this Mecha is a FAKE."

I'm withholding judgement. All the videos sure look real to me. But then, so did Jurassic Park . . .

BTW, NICE site. How'd you find it?

Found this comment on another website, but again, no hard proof . . .

This site is a hoax, and part of an elaborate, unconventional marketing campaign by Mini.

    Just googled the subject.

You've gotta admit.. it looks pretty CGI...

And that 'tracking software' where he's firing the tennis balls.. VERY impressive looking,, but real?

I'd have to say it looks like a very impressive hoax. I'd LOVE to think it's true, but I'm going to side with the idea it's all make believe.

No! No! No! I WANT it to be true!

I can see the good probability of it being true, except for when the "robot" actually turns itself around. I don't know of any current technology that will enable it to manuver on two legs without falling over. As far as tracking and object recognition, that technology is available now.

Good find, Case! You a man o' quality.

I guess you can tell that I'm a Mech Warrior fanatic.
