Bitbender's Fal puppy - Gone Over the rainbow bridge

    Today marks the saddest of times for me and my family. Today, we lost a family member, one of the finest friendships, and the bestest of pups;

God rest ye well, my sweetest one, for you were the best of all time for me. I shall never forget all that you taught me, and all we have shared.

I loved you more than any other, before, or since.

    Phil,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss!
They become one of the family, and their unconditional affection
makes the loss all the worse.
Find solace in remembering the good times, and that pain will slowly turn to just the warm memories of those times!

    My condolences,
    Tom

I'm sorry to hear that Phil. Did she die quietly, with no more siezures?
It is harder and harder to make a case to a weary and dismayed population that the Western way of life as managed by the Anglosphere ought to be spread around the world at the point of a gun.

Aww damn. I'm so sorry to hear that, Phil. You'll miss Falan very much.

I still think of our dog... at night, when I'm turning off all the lights and shit I still expect her to be laying on her rug. It's been about 8 years now.

    For Bits

    I Remember
(In memory of beloved pets who are gone, but not forgotten.)
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
    "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Awhhh, Phil. I am so sorry to hear that. My condolences. They are like our arm, they're so close, but tied to the heart, not only the shoulder.

That sucks. It is like G says, they never leave us. Their presence lives on in us.

Pat, that is an awesome poem.

Phil, you haven't transgressed enough ( not possible ) to not ask for some relief and some strength to get through the heartache. Where does our strength come from, if not from there?

Trust that you're in our thoughts and hearts.

Sorry to hear of your loss Bits.
They become so much a part of your family, ours have taken the place of our children now that they are all grown and out on their own.

A very sad time, but some of it passes after a while… not all, just some of the pain.
For Kay and I a new puppy helped, but it was a good long time before we reached that point.

    My condolences.

Unhappy This date is permanently branded into my brain

    Bits My Friend,

When I read this post, my heart sunk even deeper into the pit of my stomach. I can totally relate, but as G said, it has been over 8 years for me as well, and I still can't even talk about it. Today, I'll be thinking of Dad, You, the second best friend I ever had, and your pup--all day. It will always be a day of remembrance for me, so long as I live. Please, bear in mind all that is in this thread, and especially Servl's post. As you know, I have important reasons for being away at times today, but I will also be here as much as I can. I wish you strength and my warmest regards. You also have my deepest sympaty, and heartfelt condolences, Bob

First, I want to say that I feel for you Bits.. And rest to sure that your pal is in a better place.

Second, a dog is truly man's best friend. My wife can never understand this. I had dogs all of my life, so I know that pain in the heart when your best friend goes to doggy heaven. But with an end always comes a beginning. I am sure your heart is big enough to love another, maybe not quite the same, but there will always be room.

And third.........who the hell is Phil?

    I wrote this tonight, forgive my poor skills, as this hardly touches where I am;

It was on this 8th day of August, 2004, that in my life when loss seemed It’s greatest, and hope as absent as a yesterday. For on this day, my companion of a life time, my dear Falon, from my life did she go.

Across all the years of our times, from before her conception, she was ordained for her entire existience, as my friend and protector against seen and unseen foe. And for each and every one of those days in the eleven years I was blessed with her, she taught me love, understanding and patience, and the joy and satisfaction of unending devotion, and the meaining of unconditional acceptance.

For, thru all the years of her youth, she gave me hope, and the energy to continue, at a time when things were hardest, and I was most alone. Later, as she aged, so did I, to mature together, and growing together along life’s never ending tree of conciseness.

The days, and the times did we share, too countless at the time to number, how painfully short, even absent, they now seem, only leave me with the emptiness that I now feel, the loss of friendship, and love I can no longer know. All around me are those that care, but of my pain, It Is mine alone to forego. Only the touch of her fur, and her gentlest caress could save me now, and for those, it is not yet my time to again know.

Torn we are, among those we loved, that have had to leave us so, a gap so large, it seems that the universe could pass thru, and no one could tell, nor would a person would even know. One of the great milestones of our lives we hold it in our hands, so cruel it is that until it has passed the value of which is misunderstood, or simply another one of humanities unknowns.

Damn the day, and curse the night, the images and feelings that harm and blight. For the soul knows loss, and the body makes light, so that time passes to help our brains reason that things will be all right.

I cannot ever forget, that handful of joy, always trusting I’d protect her thought life’s plight. For when the time came, I was far away, and knew not time had come to carry her away from me that very day. Life's end is as constant as it's begining, but I wasn't, nor would ever be, prepared for the end of her beginning.

Sorry to hear bout Fal's passing. None shall ever replace him in your mind. In time the pain will pass but the memories never will. Keep that in mind as you trudge through these next days.

    Phil,
I know all too well the feeling of helplessness and pain, my dad passed before I could get to see him one last time. Life is a royal bitch that way at times. we have so little control over so much of our lives, just remember, when you were there, you shared love and caring. That I firmly believe counts for so much more than being there, as both know the feeling of the other.''

your friends and family are the pillar of strength for all in trying times, and this is the measure of a persons life, and that is what will let those tha passed rest in peace. I hope you can carry these thoughts with you thru these and future trying times.

Loosing a dog is so hard, we went through the same thing a few years ago. Even though he was a pest half of the time and shat on the floor almost every morning when he passed away we missed him like a real family member and a good friend, always there to cheer you up.

Remember the good times with him

So sorry to hear of your loss. I know how it is as I have been there too many times before, and I have still not found a way to deal with the pain of the loss. It hurts so much, I have not been quite the same since the loss of my beloved Denim, also a GSD.
A dogs loyalty and friendship is uwavering and unconditional. Each is so unique that they can never be replaced.

I am so sorry, I really do feel for you.

I am very saddened to hear about your loss. I just saw this, so I apologize deeply for such a late response. I know how you have been feeling, since I recently had to put a pet down. I have a doggie that is getting pretty old as well. When my wife and I take our two mile walk, she is dragging pretty hard at the end. But she won't let us go without her.

I don't even want to think about that this soon since the passing of our 18 year old kitty. I never realized I was so attached to that silly cat.

May God bless you and keep you and your's comforted through this time of sorrow.
