hookin up oldie but goodie – 4242 days old

well right now I have my K6-2 500 up and running I only have one problem. When ever I try to get to the internet, it tried to detect the proxie settings and then gives me the white screen. Then I go to the Winipcfg and it tells me when I try to renew all settings DHCP is unavalable. I have it on the 8th port on my switch, tried different ports( after I had to reboot all my computers, and tried 4 different nics. I don't know. Could all these nics be bad? I haven't used any of them and there all ISA.

who makes them ??? some of the older realtek and umc nic's are truly crap...... old isa 3coms are great, but if they fail it's hard to detect....

have you tried manually setting your ip, gate and dns ?? i've seen dhcp go freaky, especially with some routers

I have tried 2 3com (Older isa), a novel name pos that had me hunt for the drivers. I am going to pick up a new netgear nic soon, then I shall know. These nics that I do have are old and some I haven't even used. I think that mabey they are junk and i need to get something good. (as of lately I am throwing anything that is iffy, hate to mess around with shit.)
