games-knoppix
Well, here's a Knoppix Live CD for the gamers. When you boot up with it, it detects your hardware as usual, but if it detects NVidia or ATI video cards, it prompts to enable "hardware acceleration" which loads the respective proprietary drivers.
The CD comes with a bunch of (mostly silly) games, but it has stuff like Tux Racer and Tux Carts. It also has XGalaga which is good. Probably other good ones too, I haven't really explored that much.
Why I find it useful is, I don't like the ATI drivers and won't install them. However, I can mount my drives and play UT2004 while booted with this CD. (it's one thing that runs well with the proprietary ATI drivers)
This CD detected all my hardware. Network, audio, video, right out of the box.
Download the iso, write it to a CD, boot with it, type "knoppix lang=us" at the boot prompt and unclench those buttocks and relax while it detects everything.

Something else that's kind of cool is, this release loads an animated christmas desktop. Falling snow flakes, Santa and reindeer etc.
The desktop is KDE:
