    Well Poooooooof!

I'm still in the dark ages with an Abit KT7 (no a). I did modernize it with a XP 1800 a couple of years ago. The odd time it gives me some grief when trying to start it. Well it was not going to start this evening. After the fourth attempt...Pooooooof ...........SMOKE. .. Cheap Deere power supply finally had enough.

Good thing the stores are open late. Another cheap PS and we're back in business.

Booted into Windows. Strange things started to happen there. Haven't been there for months. It's probably viral but couldn't be bothered so I booted back to Slack.

    Enough BS for one night.
Spring has sprung. If I'm not here, I'm gone golfing, camping, golfing, fishing, etc. Disregard; I'm back.....Again!

Don't feel bad about using the KT7 CC, mine is still hammering away too, but my 12 V line is slowing going down from the original PSU on a monthly basis. At least it didn't take the mobo with it for ya, bummer though.

Yea, I'm aware of how many things run on smoke. Everytime I let it out, the damn things stops working. Shyt Happens!

Zammy, I do recall you still had this Mobo. Does everything I need but maybe its' days are numbered.

Maybe one of those small form Shuttle's would look good.

I personally never buy a cheap PSU, they are always a good investement since they are something you don't really change often.

Canuck: Shuttles are great little system. I've got a SN41G2 here and it's just great.

I would recommend the latest SN95G, based on an nForce 3 chipset supporting the 939 pin layout.

That last cheap PSU was the original for this unit. I don't remember how many years this thing has been going but it has been centurys in computer time. The 2 original 20gig Quantum Fireball HDs are still in it although a number of other drives have come and gone. It's been through couple of Duron and a couple of XP CPU's. It has always been a decent over clocker even with the cheap generic memory. Has out lived two of my dogs and working on the third.

That cheap PSU may cost me big time.
    SN95G = $400.00
    Athlon 3000 = $200.00
    1 gig mem = $300.00
    video card = $300.00
    SATA HD = $100.00

NAAA! ............... Need to hotrod the truck first.
